Naturally Shed Antlers - The Perfect Natural Chew

Naturally Shed Antlers - The Perfect Natural Chew

For many dog owners, it can be a difficult task finding the right toys & chews to keep your dog occupied. They either happen to destroy their new toy in a minute or show zero interest in it. Maybe manufactured products are not what your dog is craving!

Have you ever longed for a natural treat which doesn’t add calories to your dog’s waist? Or do you have a dog who is endlessly wanting to chew your shoes and furniture and you want to redirect his chewing habits onto something else? Are you looking for a treat which also has added health benefits to it? Deer antlers may be for you!

What are Brown’s Antlers?

The antlers Brown’s Pet Range use are naturally shed, meaning no animals where harmed in the making of this product. Antlers are completely unique to the deer family and are commonly confused with horns. There are over 60 kinds of male deer that antlers can grow on!

When we receive the shed antlers, we cut them down to manageable sizes for dogs, shaving off any sharp edges to ensure your dog has a safe experience. We do however as with any treat recommend supervising your dog when feeding these treats!

We have two options available; Deer or Fallow. Our normal Deer Antlers are designed to be sturdy, offering a tough option for even the strongest chewers. Our Fallow Antlers have more of flat surface and are generally slightly softer. These are perfect for dogs who aren’t as aggressive chewers as well as small dogs and puppies over 3 months.

What are Benefits?

Antlers are made up of mainly calcium and phosphorus, but also includes other vital minerals such as potassium, magnesium, iron, sulphur and zinc. These minerals are vital for keeping bones and muscles strong.

The main health benefit of deer antlers though, is their use in aiding in dental care for your dog. Gnawing helps to remove plaque on the teeth, and keep them clean. Most dental treats on the market are either full of calories, or brittle and can break off in your dog’s mouth. Deer antlers are neither of these, and an excellent solution to helping your dog maintain a healthy mouth.

Are They Safe?

As mentioned above, we recommend supervising your dog when feeding any chew. Due to their hard surface they can be a risk if your dog is an aggressive chewer. Considering taking away if you believe they are chewing to hard!

The same safetly measurements are used with any dog chew. The vast majority of dogs will have no issue with antlers!

Can I Use Them with Puppies?

Deer antlers are good treats for puppies, especially when they are teething to relieve the discomfort of their adult teeth coming through. They must be provided with caution though, as puppies are more at risk of swallowing objects. Therefore, make sure you select a large enough size which cannot be swallowed, yet small enough for your puppy to still chew it effectively.
